Therefore, even if it appears they are not getting enough food, if they are healthy and maintain a good weight for their age there is nothing to worry about. You need to keep in mind that all children go through a phase at some point where they are picky about what they eat. Knowing you are not alone can help you deal with it better. It is possible for your child to have a healthy diet even when they only eat certain foods. This is especially true if the food of choice is healthy for them. The point is that you don’t have to obsess over how much variety they have, if what they do eat is healthy.
One great tip for dealing with a picky eater kid is to make it a point to introduce them to new foods. You can add something new once or twice a week. When your child sees other members of the family trying new things it will help to encourage them to do the same. Have a set time for meals and don’t allow snacking in-between. A child won’t eat if they are not hungry. If you find it necessary to allow snacks, then at least limit them to no more than two a day and make them healthy snacks. Make your meals fun and relaxing and engage in good happy conversations.
