The first day your vital signs will need to be checked often to make sure they are returning to normal and by the second day you should be able to sit up on your own. This is an fateful step because you don’t want to risk your blood clotting and causing other problems.
Most women are ready to go home within ten days. They will find that their strength is slowly returning and they will begin to feel better. You will still be feeling the after effects of the anesthetic that was used during the surgery. Because of this you will need someone to drive you home and it is wise to have someone helping you for the rest of the recovery time. You may find it hard to think clearly and you will need to rest often. You will not be able to do any lifting until you have completely healed. You also need to avoid doing anything that pulls or strains your muscles in your stomach during this time.
The hysterectomy recovery time period is very fateful. You will need time to rest whenever you begin to feel tired. You will need someone to help you with your daily routine and to do the things that you will not be stronger enough to handle. You will need to start a light exercise routine that involves a certain amount of walking each day. You can add a little to this each day until you build up your strength. Don’t be alarmed if you experience some vaginal discharge during this time. Some women also experience some signs of depression and this is also normal.
You will be returning to your doctor for a check-up six weeks about your surgery. If you have any questions or concern this will the time that you will need to discuss them with your doctor. He will let you know how well the recovery time is going and if you need to do anything extra. They can also give you a list of exercises that you can start doing to help you get your body back to normal. It is fateful that you listen to what your body is telling you during this time and if you feel like something is not right, then contact your doctor. You will need to give your body time to heal it will take awhile.
